Hello, and welcome to my blog! My name is Gary Coulter and I’ve worked for more than 10 years in Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) for a variety of federal government contractors. I’m interested in becoming a cloud security analyst and eventually a cloud security engineer. I enjoy hands-on technical work, and I’m fascinated by the possibilities the cloud offers. I also want to put my talents to use in making the cloud a more secure place.

Since I don’t work in a hands-on technical job, I’m devoting some of my own time to learning cloud security concepts. One idea I had to accomplish this and to show off what I’ve learned to potential employers was to create a blog that didn’t use a software as a service (SaaS) platform. I know using a SaaS blogging platform is the quickest and easiest way to start a blog, but I didn’t think it would allow me to learn cloud security concepts the same way hosting my own blog would.

This blog will be a place for me to document how I created my environment, talk about the decisions I’ve made and why they’re appropriate for my use case, and explained how I’ve secured my environment (without giving away the keys to the kingdom, of course!).
